The stories are witty enigmatic and gripping (re read some of them straight off)- a sort of mix of "Day of the Locust" "Night of the Jabberwock" and "USA". Excellent stories and I look forward to the next batch

Los Angeles stories keeps you reading. I haven't finished the book yet, but I can say it's good insight into the history of the way things were (and not just in L.A.) and helps in understanding the path that has brought us here now. The chicano/mexicano experience is one that is peppered with so much vibrance, struggle, identity crisis, pride, and creativity; Sometimes all at once. Thank you Ry for bringing a taste of home and history to one of my homes far from home. - Chicana Living en New York, Texas Born, Proud

I just finished reading the first story in what promises to be a very excellent book. Ry has a way with dialogue and a real sense of time and place. Very James M. Cain or Raymond Chandler without the heavy-handedness that they sometimes exude. There's something almost sad and wistful in the storytelling style that I find very refreshing for this type of noir story. I can't wait to read the rest of this book. Congratulations, Ry!
